The Alumni UAB Prize, awarded at the Night of the Social Council, rewards a person who has studied at the UAB "for his recognized career, with the aim of promoting the approach to the UAB and generating possible synergies of interest".
The Social Council of the UAB is the organ of participation of the society in the Autonomous University of Barcelona. It collaborates with the University in the definition of the criteria and priorities of its strategic planning, as well as in the exercise of the powers conferred by the Law in the field of university programming and management; of the economic, budgetary and patrimonial management, and of the university community.
And especially, as a result of its strong social commitment and within the framework of the University-Society Program, the Social Council supports the UAB to promote and collaborate with strategic actions that contribute to strengthening the links between university and society and integrate and relate the activity of the University with the public sector, civil society and the productive fabric.
Carlos Ruiz Zafón received the UAB Alumni Award in memoriam "for his career as a Barcelona-based writer of international projection, with great influence on audiovisual narrative and author of eight novels, a world bestseller, some of which have given to know the city of Barcelona all over the world ".
Sara Berbel, Psychology UAB '86, current municipal manager of the Barcelona City Council, writer and doctor in Social Psychology.
Prize awarded for his extensive and proven career in the field of gender equity, as a professor and researcher in social movements, strategies for social change, especially in women's groups as active agents, and for the exercise of managerial positions in public entities as private, as an advisor and promoter of these values, as well as for her work in the field of labor insertion.
Carla Simón, Audiovisual Communication UAB '09, is a film director. In 2017, his opera cousin 'Estiu 1993' achieved historical success for Catalan cinema at the Berlinale with a double prize, the Biznaga de Oro at the Malaga Festival, three Goya and the Best Film Award at the Gaudí Awards 2018. Simon could not attend the Night of the Social Council, but sent a video to thank the prize.
