Castel of Sant Llorenç
The castle of Sant Llorenç, also known as Sant Llorenç de la Roca, is an old fortified town. At the top is the semicircular defense tower, of which the ground floor remains and part of the enclosure and wall or shirt, which surrounded it, with 120 cm walls. Neighboring the chapel of a Romanesque, Lombard-style nave, both preside over the complex enclosed by a wall with flanking towers, one protecting the access, which in some places is 4m high. Inside the enclosure, the houses, attached to the wall, were organized around a street and a cistern.
The complex is from the 11th century, promoted by Arnau Mir de Tost. However, the origin may be in the 10th century, in the Espluga de Miralles, under the rock.
The site is protected as BCIN, historical monument category, no. 254-MH, by Decree of 22/4/1949, published in the BOE 5/5/1949.
An archaeological intervention in the 80s allowed the site and its structure to be drawn, as well as delimiting its abandonment in the 14th century.
