José Ignacio Conde-Ruiz offers a conference entitled "La juventud atracada"
Description:
José Ignacio Conde-Ruiz, professor in the fundamentals of economic analysis at the Complutense University of Madrid and deputy director of the Studies in Applied Economics Foundation (FEDEA) will give a lecture on 20 February entitled "La juventud atracada" as part of the annual conference series held by the Faculty of Economics and Business Studies. Conde-Ruiz will present his work on how society, politics and economics have affected the well-being and prosperity of younger generations in recent decades. The event will take place at 12:30 p.m at the faculty's conference hall.

Colloquium on the women scientists and engineers to come
Description:
Artificial intelligence and the opportunities it provides to involve women under equal conditions is the main focus of this colloquium which will include the participation of Alexandra Gómez Villa, PhD student in Computer Vision at the CVC; Júlia Laguna, graduate in Mathematics and Physics and winner of one of the Wonnow grants from LaCaixa and Microsoft to women in STEM fields; and Patricia Ayma, president and director of Technology at VEnvirotech Biotechnology.
The colloquium forms part of the activities being conducted for the International Day of Womena and Girls in Science at the UAB and as a complementary activity of the exhibition entitled "Women Scientists and Engineers to Come”.

Women figures in the scientific world: Where are the women?
Description:
The AmicsUAB Association organises a conference on leading women figures in science entitled “On són les dones?” [Where are the Women?]. The conference will be given by Susanna Baqué, PhD in biochemistry and molecular biology and president of the AmicsUAB Association. The event will take place at the Mestre Martí Tauler Library in Rubí on Tuesday 2o February at 6 p.m.
It will address the historical absence of women in science and discuss where women are in the history of science. Highlighting some of the great female names that have forged the path of science and contributed to the understanding of the world with the aim of promoting a constructive dialogue on how to overcome the limited visibility of women in science and give the opportunity to recognise past contributions to achieve a future in the scientific community that is more equitable and inclusive.

Introduction to Artifical Intelligence: a journey through its social impacts
Description:
Jordi González, professor in the Department of Computer Science at the UAB, will be giving a lecture that forms part of this year's Seminaris a l'Abast. The conference will focus on AI and its social impacts ("Introducció a la intel·ligència artificial: un viatge pels seus impactes socials") and will take place on 21 February at 5:00 p.m. at the conference hall of the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. This conference series on current events offered by UAB lecturers is organised by the UAB Graduate School's outreach programme, Universitat a l'Abast, and lasts until 12 June, which is when the closing session will take place at the UAB Auditorium, also located at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Registration is open during the academic year: the price for all conferences is 32 euros; the price for one single conference is 8 euros.
