The use of demographic projections to understand religious change
Description:
On Thursday 8 February at 12 noon, ISOR (Research into the Sociology of Religion) will host the first seminar of this year in the board room (Sala de juntes) of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology. Pew Research Center researcher Conrad Hackett will speak on “The promise and the perill of using demographic projections to understand religious change”.

Celebration of 50 years of chemistry alumni and 55 years since the founding of the Faculty of Science
Description:
This year marks the 50th anniversary since the first chemistry students graduated, and the 55th anniversary of the founding of the Faculty of Science at the UAB. To celebrate the event, an institutional ceremony will be held on Thursday 8 February at 5:30 p.m. at the Sala Josep Vendrell.
The event will be presented by Javier Lafuente, rector of the UAB; Juan Jesús Donaire, dean of the Faculty of Science; and Lluís Escriche, director of the Department of Chemistry.
A brief speech on the history of the Faculty of Science and the Department of Chemistry will be offered by former dean Jordi Bartrolí; while Rosa Maria Ortuño and Clara Viñas will each speak on their impressions as former students of the very first promotion (1969-1974) and the second cycle of the degree in Chemistry, when students from the University School of Girone enrolled (second promotion, 1970-1975). Finally, a presentation of these past few years of the Faculty of Science will be offered by current Faculty Dean Juan Jesús Donaire.

Presentation of the documentary "The BrAIn Roads"
Description:
Presentation of the popular science documentary The BrAIn Roads, which followed the milestones and results of the Advanced Digital Technologies project on self-driving cars on rural roads. The project is funded by the Government of Catalonia and carried out by the Computer Vision Centre (CVC) of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with the collaboration of SEAT, Volkswagen and the Fundació i2CAT, which aims to overcome technological challenges and work towards the rural mobility of the future.
The presentation will include the screening of the documentary, as well as a round table in which the future of self-driving cars will be discussed.

Exhibition: "Women Scientists and Engineers to Come"
Description:
The Faculties of Science and Biosciences, the School of Engineering and the Library of Science and Technology (BCT), with the support of the Observatory for Equality, organise the exhibition "Women Scientists and Engineers to Come", which can be visited from 9 February to 10 March in the displays of the BCT and the general hall. Associated with the exhibition, which was created by the BCT, are other activities such as a colloquium, a bibliographic exhibiion, a debate and lecture on Scikus with gender perspective, a session on the Hypatia MArs project, and a self-defense workshop.
