I live in other comunities

If you live in Spain and have a degree studied abroad, you must follow the steps indicated below.

If you are a student with a Baccalaureate qualification from abroad you must follow these steps:

  • Step 2: Make the payment. Pay the fee.
  • Step 3: Submit the original academic documentation to an official registry office. This documentation is valid as a provisional referral note (valid for one academic year). Once this step has been reached, the recognition process begins and you can apply for admission to a centre.

You can go directly to:

  • General Registry of the Ministry (C/ de los Madrazo, 15, Madrid)
  • Information and registration offices of government delegations/sub-delegations in the Autonomous Communities, or provincial directorates of this Ministry in Ceuta and Melilla.
  • General registries of the diplomatic representations of Spain abroad.

Through this procedure, you can request the recognition of higher education degrees granted by foreign institutions to official Spanish university Bachelor's or Master's degrees that give access to a regulated profession in Spain.

The recognition of a foreign degree to a Spanish degree, which allows access to a regulated profession, entails the possibility of exercising the profession under the same conditions as holders of Spanish degrees. In case of not being able to request recognition of the degree, you must request equivalence to the academic level.

What does the declaration of equivalence to the academic level of the degree consist of?

The declaration of equivalence grants the foreign degree, throughout national territory, the same effects corresponding to the academic level as the degrees that are included in the specific area and field of training to which the equivalence has been declared (excluding professional effects with respect to those degrees that can be obtained by recognition).
