Objectives for Sustainable Developments
One of the principal outcomes of the Rio+20 Conference was the agreement to work on a series of objectives for sustainable development (ODS) to form the basis of the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
From the experience it acquired with the Millenium Development objectives the ODS area seen as objectives for action, easy to communicate, limited in number and applicable to every country, while taking into account the different circumstances and levels of development of each.
The 17 ODS which guide the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development which were passed on 25 September 2015.

The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development marks the route map for the coming years for progress towards sustainable development. This Agenda was approved at the General Assembly of the United Nations on 25 September 2015 on the adoption of the resolution “Transforming our world: the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development", with the objective of stimulating action in 5 spheres of critical importance, the 5 Ps: People, Planet, Propserity, Peace and Partnership.
The Agenda includes the ODS which provide the challenges and indicators for achieving the proposed objectives within a forecast time frame of the year 2030.

On 14 February 2017, the Government of Catalonia approved the creation of an interdepartmental committee to draw up the Plan. The design of the plan comes from a pilot project for enviromental objectives carried out by the Department for Territory and Sustainability, through the Office for the General Direction of Environmental Policy, and the report "2030 Agenda: transforming Catalonia, improving the world" produced by the Catalan Advisory Council on Sustainable Development (CADS).
