Complementary academic requisites
If you have not accredited all the education required to obtain the Spanish qualification you wish to have recognised, homologation will be conditional upon the prior passing of complementary academic requisites, which may consist of the following:
- Passing an aptitude test.
- Completion of a work placement.
- Completion of a project or essay.
- Completion of supervised courses.
You can choose the university or universities where you wish to achieve these requirements, if that university offers studies leading to the equivalent Spanish degree for which you are applying for homologation. In this case, you will have to pay the fee established annually in the decree on public prices for the aptitude test, or the price of the corresponding credit if you have to pass a specific subject.
You can check the dates and the procedure for the aptitude tests on the website of the faculty where the degree you wish to accredit is taught.
Deadline for the fulfilment of additional academic requirements
You have a period of four years from the day following notification of the decision.
Once this period has expired, the conditional homologation will no longer be valid. In this case, you may apply for the recognition of partial studies.
Under no circumstances may a new application for recognition of the same degree that was the subject of the conditional homologation be submitted again.
Effects of the recognition of complementary academic requirements
You will be able to exercise the regulated profession under the same conditions as Spanish graduates in possession of a degree that qualifies them to do so.
For other qualifications that do not provide access to a regulated profession in Spain, students may apply to the Ministry of Education, Vocational Training and Sport for a declaration of equivalence of the foreign higher education qualification to the degree and academic level of an official university Bachelor's or Master's degree declaration of equivalence of the foreign higher education qualification to the degree and academic level of an official university bachelor’s or master’s degree.
