Basic information before taking the PAU exams

Before taking the exams, you must

  • Check the academic requirements to start the studies you want to choose and the system of origin that corresponds to you.
  • Verify the access requirements through the UNED and process your accreditation, as explained in the corresponding section. Related information can also be found here: UNEDassis
  • Check the required access grade, which is the one stated in the UNEDasiss accreditation. This grade is between 5 and 10 points. You can consult the grade in the weighted averages table (in Spanish).
  • Find out the key dates (in Spanish) for the PAU exams and know which subjects you have to take in the compulsory general stage and, if you need to improve your access grade, the voluntary specific stage:
    • Take the EBAU/PAU specific/voluntary stage exams at any university in Spain. In this case, the two marks that, once weighted, lead to the highest grade will be considered. If you are taking the exams at a Catalan university, you can check the registration dates for these exams in the calendar (in Spanish).
    • Take the UNEDasiss specific competences exams (PCE). In this case, the two marks that, once weighted, lead to the highest grade will be considered, provided that these subjects can be weighted in Catalonia.

You can take the university entrance exams in two ways:

  • Through a Catalan university (PAU exams). You are required to sit the general stage, and voluntarily sit the specific stage. If you want to take the specific stage at a Catalan university, you can find all the information by clicking on this link (in Spanish)
  • Through UNEDasiss, a portal for managing access and admission of international students to Spanish universities. You can check the steps in the corresponding section.

Also, please bear in mind that:

  • Students who have already gained admission to a Spanish university cannot gain access through this route.
  • Students must take the personal aptitude tests for those degrees that require it.
  • Students do not have to take any tests to accredit language competence in the languages in which they will study at the UAB.
  • Those who have qualifications from the PAU- Catalan Universities/EBAU Spanish Universities and also foreign universities, can only use one of the two access qualifications.
