Access requirements

If you have an International or European Baccalaureate, or come from a European Union (EU) education system, or from a country with a reciprocity arrangement/agreement (*), you can access the Spanish university system under the same conditions as Spanish students who have passed the general stage of the PAU (Spanish access to university exams), if you meet the requirements for access to university in your country of origin.

(*)"EU students" include students from European Union countries and other countries with reciprocal arrangements:

Germany, Andorra, Austria, European Baccalaureate, International Baccalaureate, Belgium, Bulgaria, China, Colombia, Croatia, Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

If you meet the requirements, you must:

  1. Process the accreditation of your studies through UNEDasiss and check if you need to process official recognition or homologation. If you meet the requirements, but you have partial or full foreign qualifications that are not recognised or equivalent to Spanish qualifications, you can apply for access to the degree programme through the validation or homologation of foreign studies.
  2. Once you have obtained your UNED credential, you must pre-register through the University Access Portal (in Spanish). You will find all the information about the pre-registration process in the Pre-registration (in Spanish) section.

You should bear in mind that your access grade is the one recorded on your UNEDasiss accreditation. This grade is between 5 and 10 points.

There are two options to improve your access grade and calculate your admission grade:

  1. You can take subjects in the specific stage of the PAU exams at any university in Spain, and the two grades that, once weighted, give the highest marks, will be considered.
  2. You can take exams for subjects from the Specific Competences Tests (PCE) at UNED and the two marks that, once weighted, provide the highest grade will be considered, as long as these subjects can be weighted in Catalonia.

Information about the subjects that are weighted to improve your access grade for the public universities of Catalonia and the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia can be consulted by looking at the weighted averages table.

Important:

  • None of the subjects taken at Baccalaureate level and recognised through UNEDasiss accreditation will be considered.
  • Students who have previously studied at a Spanish university cannot gain access through this route.
  • Students must take the personal aptitude tests for degrees that require it.
  • Students do not have to take any tests to accredit language competence in the languages which they will study at the UAB.
  • Students who have qualifications from PAU exams taken at Catalan Universities/Spanish Universities or from foreign universities, can only use one of the two access qualifications.
