Book presentation of "The Poverty of Theory"
Description:
Julio Martínez-Cava and Xavier Domènech, lecturers in the Department of Modern and Early Modern History and researchers from the Centre for Studies into Dictatorships and Democracies at the UAB, will present a new edition of E. P. Thompson's book The Poverty of Theory in its Catalan version: La miseria de la teoría (Verso Libros). The event will take place on 2 April at 7 p.m. a the Documenta bookstore in Barcelona. Martínez-Cava is also the author of the introduction of this edition.

Colloquium with the creator of the world's largest population database
Description:
Colloquium with Steven Ruggles, professor in history and population studies from the University of Minnesota and director of the IPUMS, the world's largest population database which includes over a billion people in 365 censuses from 94 countries. This database converts census microdata into a format that can then be compared with other countries and time periods so as to provide analyses of social and economic changes over time.
The colloquium, organised by the Centre for Demographic Studies (CED), will focus on family systems, demographic changes and residing with family members.
The event will take place at the CED's Àngels Torrents Hall at the UAB, and will also be streamed live here (1984 password).

Description:
Presentation of the new interuniversity master's degree in Semiconductor Engineering and Microelectronic Design, an initiative by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the University of Barcelona (UB), and the University Rovira i Virgili (URV), coordinated by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya - BarcelonaTech (UPC) and with the strategic collaboration of the Institute for Microelectronics of Barcelona (IMB-CNM) of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).
The master's degree is aimed at training the next generation of professionals in this field and will be taught fully in English. Pre-registrations will open in the first semester of 2024.
