Screening of the documentary "Aamelat. Jornaleres de la guerra" by Eva Parey
Description:
The documentary under the direction of Eva Parey, exposes the survival situation experienced by Syrian women and girls who are refugees in informal settlements in the Bekaa valley. They all work as labourers in conditions of exploitation, with an uncertain future and without being able to prosper because they don't have recognised the nationality and they cannot return to Syria until the war finishes.
The filming put focuses on media to reveal their reality, narrating their living conditions and their power of resilience.

The iceberg of gender violence: an approach from statistical modelling
Description:
The Applied Statistics Service of the UAB organises a conference entitled "The Iceberg of Gender Violence: an approach from statistical modelling", which will analyse the number of weekly diagnoses of gender violence registered into the primary healthcare system of one of the largest areas of Catalonia, estimate the magnitude of non-reported cases and assess the impact of awareness-raising educational activities offered to professionals in 2019. David Moriña from the Department of Econometrics, Statistics and Applied Economics at the University of Barcelona and member of the Riskcenter-IREA will be the guest speaker at the conference. On 2 and 3 April, the blood donation campaign will take place at the entrance hall of the Basic Medical Sciences Teaching Unit at the Faculty of Medicine. Donations can be made from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.
