Torre Llauder Archaeological Enclosure
The Torre Llauder Archaeological Enclosure houses the remains of the noble quarters of a suburban Roman villa located in the territory closest to the Roman city of Iluro (Mataró). The villa’s stately residence (pars urbana) was built over a wine-producing establishment that had been operating since the times of Augustus. The house was built in the late Julio-Claudian period and the mosaics that are currently visible date from a refurbishment in the late 2nd century AD. The house was abandoned in the 5th century, but the site remained inhabited until the 10th century.
