Teaching Excellence Award of the Faculty to Dr. Xavier Roqué (iHC-UAB)
Professor Xavier Roqué, from the Department of Philosophy, and Jordi Grau, from the Department of Social and Cultural Anthropology, have been awarded the Teaching Excellence Prize from the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts at the UAB.

The Quality Commission of the Center, meeting on February 12, 2025, and the Permanent Board of the Center, meeting on February 14, 2025, have evaluated the candidates' qualities and approved the granting of the Faculty’s award. Their candidacies will be presented for the UAB Teaching Excellence Award call.
Professor Xavier Roqué has an extensive teaching career at the Faculties of Sciences and of Philosophy and Arts. At the Faculty of Sciences, one of his concerns has been to show the relevance and critical need of history and philosophy. Rather than constructing an academic, self-contained history, or claiming the significance of history as a discipline, he has focused on ensuring that students recognize the critical value of the humanities.
The approach that Professor Xavier Roqué implements at the Faculty of Philosophy and Arts is not substantially different, in the sense that it also integrates science and history. With students who have less scientific knowledge, history and philosophy also become powerful tools to introduce them to debates and issues that directly impact the content of other subjects.
In his career, it is worth highlighting his role as coordinator of the memory of the Degree in Science, Technology, and Humanities, and as coordinator of this unique degree in the entire Spanish University System, which involves the Faculties of Biosciences, Sciences, and Philosophy and Arts of the UAB and the universities Autónoma de Madrid and Carlos III, in a program of the Alianza Cuatro Universidades.
The innovation and interest of the Degree in Science, Technology, and Humanities have recently been recognized with an invitation from the CCCB to the coordinator, for a group of 10 students from this degree to participate in the project "The Synthetic Universe Project."
The teaching staff, the PTGAS, and the dean’s office team have highlighted the human quality and institutional commitment of the awardees, Xavier Roqué and Jordi Grau, who have stood out for their humane and approachable manner in all their teaching tasks.
