How much of the donation can you claim back?
You can claim a personal income tax deduction of 75% of the value of a donation up to €150, and 30% for donations of more than €150. If during the two previous tax periods you have made donations to the same organisation for the same or a larger amount, you will be able to claim a deduction of 35%. In order to calculate the correct amount, you must remember that the total value of the deduction cannot exceed 10% of the taxpayer's net taxable income. For donations to research and doctoral programmes, the deduction percentage is increased by 5%.
How much of the donation can you claim back as a company?
They will be entitled to deduct 35% of the value of the donation made from their total corporate income tax. If during the two previous tax periods they have made donations to the same organisation for the same or a larger amount, this percentage will be 40%. In order to calculate the correct amount, companies must remember that the value of the deduction cannot exceed 10% of their net taxable income.
