When do the faculties and school centres have to publish the lists of subjects eligible for single assessment?
As stated in the fourth transitory provision of the Academic Regulations, the list of subjects eligible for single assessment must be published before the last day of the second teaching period as established on the academic calendar of the UAB for 2022-2023. In other words, before 31 March 2023.
What are the dates for finalising the teaching guides, given the changes that will be involved for the single assessment model?
The teaching guides for the 2023-2024 academic year for all Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees registered for in July must be finalised by 7 July 2023.
Is there a calendar for the whole of the UAB or does each faculty decide the period in which students must communicate their intention to opt for single assessment?
As with all other academic processes, such as modifications to the registration information, the academic and administrative calendars of the UAB for the “023-2024 academic apply to the whole of the university. Within the periods approved each centre can establish their own specific dates. This year’s calendar does not contain that information since students are not yet able to request the single assessment option. The same rules defer the introduction of the option by one academic year so that centres have time to make all the necessary consultations and obtain internal approval to produce teaching guides for the subjects that will offer the single assessment option in 2023-2024.
Is there a specific week for the single assessment or can the single assessment day be programmed on the same day as another exam so that all the student are in the same classroom, for example?
Since this depends on the type of single assessment decided by the person responsible for the subject, if the deadline for submissions can be adapted to the exams calendar set by the faculty, then the same date can be used for both. Otherwise an alternative will have to be found.
Can the same exam carry a different percentage weight for continuous assessment and for single assessment? (For example, 40% for continuous assessment and 70% for single assessment).
If it is exactly the same exam it must carry the same weight. Additional elements may be added to the single assessment exam or elements may be changed to be able to change the weighting for the final grade. In any case all this must be clearly specified in the teaching guide.
