Llívia Museum

Castell de Cervelló

The Museum of Llívia was born from the acquisition (in 1965) by the heirs of the pharmacist of Llívia of the material coming from the Esteva pharmacy, made up of jars and equipment from the 17th to the 19th century. The Diputació de Girona made its acquisition on the condition that this heritage would always remain in Llívia. From that moment on, and by delegation of the Diputació, the City Council took charge of it, who deposited it in an outbuilding of the municipal building where it was shown to visitors who requested it. In 1973, the pharmacy moved to the first floor of the medieval tower of Bernat de So. It remained there until 1981, when it was integrated into the Network of Regional Museums of Catalonia (now abolished), and was exhibited in the recently inaugurated Municipal Museum, in the building next to the Town Hall. The equipment houses a sample of archaeological and documentary pieces, from the Neolithic to the present day.
