In today's Knowledge Society, innovation and technology have become the main drivers for development. Regional competitiveness is there driven by the capacity for local innovation and knowledge in cities. This had led to a new paradigm in regional planning based on the development of the Smart City. This model aims to achieve an efficient, sustainable and integrating by taking a multidimensional course of action and using new technologies.

Tha UAB Campus has also been involved in this process and has assumed responsibility for its own case. The model was therefore adapted to produce the Smart Campus and this has become the backbone of university policy and, more specifically, the policy of mobility and transport on the Campus. 

The UAB is working under the concept of Smart Mobility, which refers to a series of policies, initiatives and actions whose primary objectives is to facilitate mobility of users by increasing the capacity of public transport at the least possible economic, environmental and social cost. 

ICT plays a major part in achieving these objectives and have helped to improve and optimise many aspect of the day-to-day management of mobility, especially that realted to public and user information about the different transport networks. The are tolls for new ways of managing the services and also provide better communication among the agents involved. 

As a result, the UAB has made available to the university community some very useful applications. On the link below ou can consult them. They are free and open access for the entire university community.
