Official Master's Degree in Communication and Language Disorders

Access

Access to this master's degree is open to holders of an official bachelor's degree from a Spanish university or from another higher education institution within or outside the European Higher Education Area, provided this gives access to postgraduate studies in the country of issue.

Admission requirements

Students must be in possession of a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in one of the following:

  • Health sciences: Speech Therapy, Psychology or Medicine
  • Education: Teacher Education
  • Humanities: Linguistics

The profile also requires knowledge of English at level B1 and Spanish at level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages of the Council of Europe.

Selection criteria

In the event that the number of applicants exceeds the number of places offered, the allocation of places will be made in accordance with the following criteria for the priority of the Master's degree.

  • Academic record (up to 50 points). In accordance with the specific admission requirements, the scale of Bachelor's degrees is governed by the following table:

  • Professional experience in the field of communication and language disorders up to a maximum of 20 points: this will be evaluated from a minimum of 2 years of experience with documentation accrediting the performance of tasks in the work environment (either by means of an employment contract or under the Special Regime for Self-Employed Workers).

Complementary training

The coordination of the Master's degree will review the academic record of those students who have not completed the Bachelor's degree in Speech Therapy, to determine whether it is necessary for them to take up to a maximum of 12 ECTS of additional training among the following subjects of the Degree in Speech Therapy of the UAB.

For Psychology graduates:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Organs of Voice and Speech (6 ECTS credits)
  • Linguistics Applied to Language Pathologies (6 ECTS credits)

For Teacher Education graduates:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Organs of Voice and Speech (6 ECTS credits)
  • Linguistics Applied to Language Pathologies (6 ECTS credits)

For Linguistics graduates:

  • Anatomy and Physiology of the Nervous System (6 ECTS credits)
  • Research Methods in Speech Therapy (6 ECTS credits)

For Medicine graduates:

  • Disorders and Assessment of Oral and Written Language Acquisition (9 ECTS)
