International Congress on Preventing Corruption in the Public Business Sector
Description:
The first session of the International Congress on Preventing Corruption in the Public Business Sector will take place on Monday 5 February. The event is organised by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Anti-Fraud Office of Catalonia, and the Barcelona Provincial Council and will be held at 3:30 p.m. at the Provincial Council's cultural space, Pati Manning.
The first round table will discuss crimes committed by civil servants in the face of transformations undergone in the public sector, and the second session will focus on the criminal liability of public enterprises.
Registration is free, but compulsory, as places are limited. An attendance certificate will be given to all those attending. Deadline for registration is 29 January.

Second session of the International Congress on Preventing Corruption in the Public Business Sector
Description:
The second session of the International Congress on Preventing Corruption in the Public Business Sector will take place on Tuesday 6 February. The event is organised by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Anti-Fraud Office of Catalonia, and the Barcelona Provincial Council and will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Provincial Council's cultural space, Pati Manning. The session will be divided into two parts: presentations in the morning and sessions in the afternoon.
The first round table in the morning will deal with the current state of compliance programmes in the public sector, and the second session will focus on criminal risks and their prevention (I): Corruption offences.
In the afternoon, the first presentation will deal with the second part of criminal risks and their prevention (II), Other crimes, and finally, the last colloquium will focus on procedural issues.
Registration is free, but compulsory, as places are limited. An attendance certificate will be given to all those attending. Deadline for registration is 29 January.

The use of demographic projections to understand religious change

On Thursday 8 February at 12 noon, ISOR (Research into the Sociology of Religion) will host the first seminar of this year in the board room (Sala de juntes) of the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology. Pew Research Center researcher Conrad Hackett will speak on “The promise and the perill of using demographic projections to understand religious change”.
