Worl's Environmental Education Day.
The World´s Environmental Education Day has its origin in 1972, with the Declaration of the Conference of the United Nations on Human Environment, celebrated in Stockholm, Sweden; although since 1975, when the International Environmental Education Seminar in Belgrade took place and where the Belgrade Charter was issued on Environmental Education enunciating its global targets, each 26th of January is commemorated at an international level.
Environmental Education is critically important to promote sustainable development and increase population capacity to attend environmental and development issues. It is also important to attain consciousness, values and attitudes, techniques and ecological and ethnic behavior in consonance with sustainable development, and to support effective public participation in the decision making process. Education appears as a central element that understands the need to promote a significant change in individual and collective human behavior and consumption patterns.
