Workshop: "Lessons from the Superblocks in Barcelona: What's next?"

ICTA-UAB is organising a workshop to distill lessons from Barcelona Superblocks and explore questions that will inform future urban greening in Barcelona. The main workshop objectives are peer learning, new interdisciplinary collaborations, and potentially laying the groundwork for future joint research proposals. The workshop itself is an initial collaboration between the ICTA-UAB, Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal), and the University of British Columbia (UBC).

This workshop aims to bring together scholars and practitioners working on Superblocks Barcelona and urban greening. The first part of the workshop will provide a space for research teams to present their work on Superblocks Barcelona and lessons learned, and ideas about future research on Barcelona’s urban greening, nature-based solutions, and street transformation.

The second part of this workshop will be highly interactive and will build on interdisciplinary research questions that most need to be answered moving forward, considering the political and climatic context in Barcelona. Main workshop outputs: peer learning, new interdisciplinary collaborations, and potentially laying the groundwork for future joint research proposals.
