Ideal student profile

In order to be admitted it is necessary to have a general interest in economics and business, and to have also specific interests in markets, public policy or public finances. It is also required to prove knowledge of English at B1 level of the Common European Framework of Reference for the languages of the Council of Europe.

  • Recognise the basic foundations of macroeconomic analysis and its application to the analysis of economic reality.
  • Recognise the basic foundations of microeconomic analysis and its application to market analysis and decision-making.
  • Identify the concepts of balance and efficiency, as well as their application in the field of market research.
  • Identify the most appropriate data techniques for empirical studies.
  • Identify the behaviour of companies and agents that interact, and the consequences of their actions when competing in the market.
  • Recognise the impact of the time factor and the risk factor in the study of financial markets.
  • Recognise the principles of financial investment: portfolio selection and financial investment strategies.
  • Identify situations in which markets are not efficient, and the public policies that can restore efficiency and those that cannot.

  • Apply the knowledge acquired for the analysis of multidisciplinary environments related to the field of economics and business.
  • Carry out a complex business economic analysis based on the integration of knowledge with the aim of making decisions or formulating judgments.
  • Make efficient use of information, which may be incomplete or limited, that allows reflection on the social and ethical responsibility of their decisions and judgments.
  • Choose the appropriate empirical methodology for the financial and business fields.
  • Model the functioning of companies and markets according to the aspect to be studied.
