Science and Technology Library
Manuel García Doncel (Santander, 1930)
Manuel García Doncel, Professor of Theoretical Physics at the UAB and historian of science, started the UAB Physics Library in the mid-1970s. His interest in the history of physics led him to establish the UAB Seminar on the History of Science, which would become the Centre for the History of Science Studies (CEHIC) in 1995.
His contribution to the Science and Technology Library dates back to 1992, with the signing of an institutional agreement between the Tarragonese Province of the Society of Jesus and the UAB for the donation of the Historical Science Collection from the Borja Centre.
This collection, dedicated to the history of science, has continued to grow and now includes more than 6,000 monographs and 113 journals in paper format, as well as 4,696 monographs and 53 journals in microform, featuring the Archives for the History of Quantum Physics and the Landmarks of Science series.
Social Sciences Library
José María Veciana Vergés (1932-2009)
Dr. José María Veciana, with a PhD in Economics from the University of Frankfurt-Main and the UAB, was a professor at the UAB’s Faculty of Economics and Business from 1970 until his retirement, where he also served as Dean and Head of Department. A pioneer in Spain in the study of business creation and SME management, he is a leading figure in the field of Entrepreneurship.
The Social Sciences Library received his library from his family, which included more than 1,300 monographs on business and entrepreneurship, as well as a substantial number of periodicals. Part of this donation was also transferred to other UAB libraries based on subject matter.
Communication Library and General Newspaper Archives
Humberto Luis Rivas Ribeiro (Buenos Aires, 1937-Barcelona, 2009)
Humberto Luis Rivas Ribeiro, an Argentine photographer and professor, was a prominent figure for photographers of his generation and those that followed. His personal library, donated to the UAB by his widow, comprises 664 titles, primarily focused on photography. The collection includes specialised monographs, anthologies, and exhibition catalogues.

Enric Lluch i Martín (Barcelona, 1928-2012)
Enric Lluch was one of the main introducers of the most innovative methodological approaches in Geography. A professor at the UAB since 1969, he founded the Department of Geography. His primary research topics were the evolution of geographical thought in Catalonia and territorial division. He was also a driving force behind the Gran Enciclopèdia Catalana and one of the founders of the Escola de Mestres Rosa Sensat.
The Humanities Library received his library and personal collection from his family, which is currently being catalogued thanks to collaboration between the Library and the Department of Geography. This donation reflects a lifetime devoted to the study and teaching of geography.
Map Library
Martí Gelabertó Vilagran
Martí Gelabertó Vilagran, who holds a PhD in history from the UAB, has served as a lecturer and researcher at several European universities. His research focuses on the religiosity of various social groups in 16th- and 17th-century Catalonia.
In July 2015, he donated a collection of maps dating from the 16th to the 19th centuries to the UAB Map Library, leading to the establishment of the Martí Gelabertó's Collection of Antique Maps.
