Workshop for Young Researchers in Sports Sciences
The doctoral programs specialised in Physical Activity, Physical Education, and Sports Sciences at Catalan universities are organizing a workshop for young sport researchers on February 21, 2025.
The event aims to create a space for exchanging studies, ideas and concerns among researchers who are currently pursuing or have recently completed their doctoral studies in the field of sports sciences.
In this first edition, the event will be organised by the PhD Program in Sports Sciences at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and will take place on the UAB Campus.
The Workshop for Young Researchers in Sports Sciences: Leading the Future of Research is mainly aimed at:
- Students enrolled in PhD programs specialising in Sports Sciences at Catalan universities or from other geographical areas.
- Early-career researchers from universities and/or other research institutions who are in the postdoctoral stage and conducting research in the field of Sports Sciences.
- Students from master’s programs who are considering pursuing doctoral studies specialising in Sports Sciences.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration by promoting the exchange of ideas and approaches with other PhD students from various disciplines.
- Expand professional networks by facilitating networking with other early-career and senior researchers.
- Develop presentation and communication skills to effectively share ideas with experts and peers.
The Scientific Committee of the workshop accepts abstracts about studies and thesis in the following formats:
- oral presentations and
- posters.
Authors must choose one format or the other and submit an abstract of their contribution. However, the Scientific Committee may suggest changes to the format of any submitted proposals.
ORAL PRESENTATIONS
- Authors will present their proposal as short oral presentations.
- Each presentation will last between 3 and 5 minutes, and a visual aid may be used to accompany the presentation (e.g., PowerPoint, Canva, Prezi).
- The focus of the presentation may be theoretical, methodological, or applied. If presenting a professional and/or applied experience, authors must base their practice on relevant scientific evidence in the field.
- Oral presentations should include information about: objectives, theoretical framework, design/approach/intervention*, results and discussion*, and conclusions*
POSTERS
- Authors will present their proposal as a poster and they will be responsible for designing and printing the poster.
- Each presentation will last between 3 and 5 minutes.
- The poster format should be A0 (118.9 cm x 84.1 cm) and include information about: objectives, problem to be addressed/theoretical framework, brief description of the methodology, results*, implications of the results*, discussion*, and conclusions*.
* In the case of studies and theses that are in progress, the sections on results, discussion, and conclusions will be presented as expected results, since the study is ongoing and not yet completed.
The allocation of proposals will depend on the total number received and accepted after the abstract review period ends.
The deadline for submitting your contribution is December 20, 2024.
The organizers will send you the relevant certificates for your participation in the workshop by email:
- Participant who attends and presents an oral communication or poster: you will receive a communication certificate and a participation certificate.
- Co-author who does not attend: you will receive a communication certificate.
- Attendee who does not present an oral communication or poster: you will receive a participation certificate.
The team behind the Workshop for Young Researchers in Sports Sciences is composed of early-career researchers, members of the UAB teaching and research staff (PDI), and the UAB Sports Research Institute, as well as members of the Academic Committee of the UAB Doctoral Program in Sports Sciences and the managing staff of the Institute.
The organization also involves the coordinators of the various doctoral programs specialized in Physical Activity Sciences, Physical Education, and Sports Sciences from Catalan universities that support the event.
