Call for applications for special assistance:temporary provision of computer and networking equipment during the 2nd semester of academic year 2019-2020, due to the declaration of state of alarm to confront health emergency caused by COVID-19 (2nd CALL)

Description

This special assistance is addressed to students experiencing difficulty in receiving distance education because they lack the necessary computer equipment or an internet connection.

IMPORTANT: read the rules of the call carefully (click on the link below).

Requirements

a) Lack of computer equipment or a reliable internet connection to receive online teaching in the second semester of 2019-2020.

b) Being registered on official studies at a faculty or school belonging to the UAB.

c) For Category A: having applied for the general grant in 2018-2019 or in 2019­2020, the level of family income being within the threshold for obtaining the general grant, whether or not the grant was awarded.

d) For Category B: approval from the dean or director of the faculty or school.

CATEGORY A:

The following details must be included in the email, to be sent exclusively from the student's institutional email account (@e-campus.uab.cat).

- Brief account of the reasons for applying for the assistance (lack of equipment, your own and your family's social and financial situation)

CATEGORY B:

The following details must be included in the emails, to be sent exclusively from the student's institutional email account (@e-campus.uab.cat) to the offices of the centre's dean or director and to the address coordinacio.beques@uab.cat, respectively.

Applications may be considered null and void if any required information is omitted.

Assistance categories and types

Category A: for students who applied for the general grant in 2018-2019 or in 2019-2020 and whose level of family income was within the threshold for obtaining the general grant, whether or not the grant was awarded.

Category B: for students who have obtained approval from the dean or director of the centre where they are studying, whether or not they meet the requirements of Category A. To obtain this approval, students should contact the offices of their centre's dean or director, which will send the relevant information to the Grants Unit of the Area of Academic Affairs (coordinació.beques@uab.cat).

Assistance Type 1: loan of basic computer equipment (a PC).

Assistance Type 2: a basic internet connection using an appliance with a SIM card.

Applications

Before applying, students should choose the category and type of assistance that correspond to their own situation. Types 1 and 2 may be applied for at the same time, but not categories A and B.

CATEGORY A:

Send an email to coordinacio.beques@uab.cat. To do this, your institutional email account must be used (@e-campus.uab.cat). Applications made from other accounts will be considered null and void.

CATEGORY B:

Send an email to the offices of your centre's dean or director, explaining your own and your family's social and financial situation, and why you need computer or networking equipment.

As well as contacting the offices of your centre's dean or director, send an email to coordinacio.beques@uab.cat. To do this, your institutional email account must be used (@e-campus.uab.cat). Applications made from other accounts will be considered null and void.

Having approved an application, centres send the student's details to the Grants Unit of the Area of Academic Affairs (coordinació.beques@uab.cat) before 10 a.m. on 4 May, so that the selection committee can evaluate the applications and decide on the assistance to be provided.

Comments

In the coming days, people with the help granted will receive an email with details of how and when they will receive this installation. It will be essential that beneficiaries respond to this email on the established terms and within 24 hours.
