Historical thinking of the national and regional crises of Spain
Description:
On 15 and 16 May, the conference Pensar històricament les crisis nacionals i territorials a Espanya [Historical Thinking of National and Regional Crises in Spain] will take place, organised by the Centre for Studies on Dictatorships and Democracies at the UAB (CEDID) and the European School of Humanities. The activity forms part of the research project "Estat i dinàmiques nacionals a Espanya (1931-1978)", of which Xavier Domènech and Francesc Vilanova, lecturers in modern history at the UAB, are the main researchers.
The meeting aims to debate different tensioning elements and proposals related to the connections between several national projects and the state of Spain, from a historical and also international point of view.
On Thursday 16 May, the second conference day will begin with the third session led by Vega Rodríguez-Flores and Aurelio Martí Bataller, both lecturers in the Department of Modern and Early Modern History of the University of Valencia. They will speak on democratic experience and plurinationality in a conference entitled “Experiències democràtiques i integració de la plurinacionalitat”. The fourth and last session will include the participation of Andrew Dowling, lecturer in Catalan and Spanish History at the University of Cardiff, Wales, and Pau Casanellas, lecturer in the Department of Modern and Early Modern History at the UAB, entitled “Experiències dictatorials en l’intent d’erradicar la plurinacionalitat” [Dictatorial Experiences in the Intent to Eradicate Plurinationality].

13th Ceremony for the awarding of PhD degrees and extraordinary PhD prizes
Description:
The 13th Ceremony for the awarding of PhD degrees and Extraordinary PhD prizes will be held on 17 May. The event will take place at the Hotel Campus of the Vila Universitària, at the UAB. The ceremony will begin with a speech by UAB Rector Javier Lafuente. Joan Subirats, emeritus professor of the Department of Political Science and Public Law, will sponsor the ceremony and offer a lecture entitled “Scientific Knowledge and Social Change”. The event will also include a performance by the UAB Choir and will end with food and refreshments for all attendants.

Thirty-two hour hackathon at the School of Engineering
Description:
The School of Engineering will be organising "UAB THE HACK!" on 18 and 19 May, an event that brings together students and profesisonals from different disciplines to solve real-life problems proposed by companies such as NTT DATA, Ferrocarrils de la Generalitat and Caixa Enginyers.
For more than 32 hours straight, participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate their skills and technical abilities in a practical and collaborative learning environment.
The event will begin on Saturday 18 May at 9 a.m. with a welcoming session and presentation of the challenges proposed by collaborating companies. The teams will be able to prepare their projects until 12:00 on 19 May. The hackathon will conclude with a presentation ceremony and prizes for the most innovative teams.
The teams will include support from companies suggesting the challenges and mentors that will guide the teams during the more than 32 hours of the hackathon. The challenges will be announced in the welcoming session, and will include areas such as sustainability, data management, AI, education, health and mobility.

The characters, belonging to the most successful society, are trapped in a farce where they have to manage the consequences of conjugal infidelity, a theme that Woody Allen describes as universal and exciting, but that in real life usually generates suffering and conflicts.

Online gender-based violence
Description:
The international conference "Gender-based cyber violence" will be held on 23 May at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Law. This activity is part of the R&D+i project entitled "Prevention and response to gender-based cyber violence" (CIBERVIO). During the day there will be presentations by professionals and round tables with victims and professionals who care for victims.
The event will start with Susana Navas, dean of the Faculty and Noelia Igareda, from IP project CIBERVIO. The first lecture will be given by Paz Lloria, from the University of Valencia with "Digital gender violence".
This will be followed by the first round table of the day with victims of cyber-violence and gender violence. Maria Barcons will participate with "El derecho al olvido de las víctimas de ciberviolencia de género", Anna Melendez with "La dificultad de seguir adelante después: las consecuencias que te quedan. An approach to the victimological impact" and finally, Paz Olaciregui Rodríguez with "Gender cyber-violence: a look from the legal sociology".
The second round table will be with professionals who work on the issue and care for victims. Cristina Vasilescu will participate with "The challenges and needs of professionals who care for victims of gender-based cyber-violence" and Olga Paz with "Sexual harassment protocols in cases of gender-based cyber-violence".
The second presentation will be given by Daniela Heim, from the National University of Río Negro, Argentina, who will address "The right to a life free of violence in digital environments. Normative challenges".
To end the conference, the last round table will be held with Josep Cañabate and "Cyber-violence, algorithms and social networks" and Noelia Igareda with "Jurisprudence on gender cyber-violence".
