Historical thinking of the national and regional crises of Spain
Description:
On 15 and 16 May the conference Pensar històricament les crisis nacionals i territorials a Espanya [Historical Thinking of National and Regional Crises in Spain] will take place, organised by the Centre for Studies on Dictatorships and Democracies at the UAB (CEDID) and the European School of Humanities. The activity forms part of the research project "Estat i dinàmiques nacionals a Espanya (1931-1978)", of which Xavier Domènech and Francesc Vilanova, lecturers in modern history at the UAB, are the main researchers.
The meeting aims to debate different tensioning elements and proposals related to the connections between several national projects and the state of Spain, from a historical and also international point of view.
On Wednesday 15 May, a meeting will take place with the participation of Josep Ramoneda, director of the European School of Humanities, and Xavier Domènech, historian from the CEDID. The first session will include the participation of Michel Martínez, lecturer in the Department of Languages and Cultures at the Université Toulouse Capitole and Ferran Archilés, lecturer in the Department of Modern History of the University of Valencia. The conference is entitled “Quins factors expliquen que Espanya sigui un dels països europeus amb més projectes nacionals en pugna?” [What factors explain why Spain is one of the European countries with more national projects in conflict?].
This will be followed by a second session with Francesc Vilanova, lecturer of Modern History at the UAB, and Vicent Scheltiens, lecturer in History at the University of Antwerp, with the title: “Com s’ha desenvolupat la interacció entre l’Estat espanyol i els diversos projectes nacionals?” ["How has the interaction between the Spanish State and the various national projects developed?]

Impact of chemistry on the development of modern society: some examples
Description:
Jordi Marquet, retired professor of the Department of Chemistry of the UAB, will talk about examples of chemistry and its impact on modern society in a conference entitled "Impacte de la química en el desenvolupament de la societat contemporània: alguns exemples". The conference forms part of the series Seminaris a l'Abast of this academic year. It will take place on 15 May at 5 p.m. at the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. This series of talks on topics of interest or current affairs by UAB lecturers is organised by the Universitat a l'Abast programme of the UAB Graduate School and will last until 12 June, when there will be a closing session at the UAB Auditorium, also located in the Faculty of Arts & Humanities. Registration is open throughout the course: registration for the entire series costs 32 euros and entrance to one session costs eight euros.

Conference of the UAB Artificial Intelligence Interest Group
Description:
The conference aims to be a meeting point for researchers and groups to meet and explore common interests in order to create a network with a multidisciplinary approach in which Artificial Intelligence acts as a common axis.
Programme:

Transmèdia international meeting. Artificial creativity
Description:
Fernanda Rocha, Chief Futures Officer (CFO) and founder of Blackbot, Blackschool and BCI, and Jon Black, CEO at Blackbot, will be offering a conference on artificial creativity and its affects on human creativity, entitled Creativitat artificial. Quin és l’impacte de la intel·ligència artificial en la creativitat humana?. The conference forms part of the presentation of the Transmèdia Catalonia research group at the UAB with the support of the dean's office. The registration period is open and places are limited.

Exhibition and debate on Taiwanese literature
Description:
On Thursday 16 May the exhibition on Taiwanese literature "Navegar cap al món: la literatura taiwanesa" will be inaugurated. The exhibition was co-organised by the National Museum of Taiwan Literature, the Ministry of Culture of Taiwan, the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library, and the UAB research group TXICC and will be on display at the Journals Hall of the Humanities Library.
The inauguration will serve to also offer a round table at 12 noon with the participation of Taiwan literature translators Alberto Poza (UOC), Antonio Paoliello (UAB) and Mireia Vargas-Urpí (UAB). The round table will be moderated by Sílvia Fustegueres (member of the TXICC group and disseminator of Sinophone literature on social media).
The exhibition consists of 14 roll-ups contextualising modern Taiwanese literature and focus on the issues found in the books being currently translated.
The exhibition will be on display until 14 June.

Conversation between Chieh-yao Chen and Esteve Riambau
Description:
In celebration of Mother Language Day, a conversation will be held beetween Chieh-yao Chen, independent academic and Taiwan cinema scholar, and Esteve Riambau, historian, producer and director of the Filmoteca de Catalunya and lecturer in the Department of Audiovisual Communication and Advertising at the UAB.
This conversation forms part of the Taiwan film cycle "Històries des de dins", which will be offered at the Cinemes Girona in Barcelona from 16 to 18 May.
