Spain has long been a popular destination for many Italian researchers, who find a dynamic scientific environment conducive to the development of their ideas. The Italian community in Spain is home to a significant number of researchers, many of whom have achieved high positions in Spanish universities and research centres, both public and private.

The celebration, held as part of the "Italian Research in the World Day (GRIM)", was an opportunity to meet some of these researchers who have chosen to develop their projects in Spain. All of them have received prestigious awards from the European Research Council. Umberto Lombardo was joined by S. Affò, E. Aurino, M. Baroni, S. Biagetti, S. Discetti, D. Fiore, L. Fornaro, M. Pansera, L. Pascali, M. Prato, and M. Toffolo.

The aim of the initiative was to reflect on the state of scientific exchanges between Spain and Italy and to identify ways of improving them, either through bilateral initiatives or in a multilateral framework, with the participation of important institutional actors from both countries.

The final round table was attended by the President of the CSIC, Eloísa Del Pino, and the President of the National Research Council (CNR), Maria Chiara Carrozza.
