ICTA-UAB's film The Green Divide, now available online
The film The Green Divide, produced by the BCNUEJ group of the ICTA-UAB and selected at the last SUNCINE Festival, is now available online for everyone.
This feature-length documentary, made as part of the GREENLULUS project and directed by researcher Isabelle Anguelovski, is an interactive documentary that explores cases of "green inequalities" through the stories of activism related to the processes of greening and the construction of mostly elite housing in six cities in Europe, the United States and Canada.
Created by Alberto Bougleux, the film aims to share the challenges and successes of activist and community movements in the face of the emerging pressures of green gentrification.
The stories document the challenges of building greener but not always equitable cities in Portland, Washington D.C., Boston, Montreal, Nantes and Barcelona. In each city, there are three stories of residents mobilising for equity and inclusion around projects that aim to renaturalise cities and improve access to green infrastructure.
In addition to the feature film, The Green Divide is an interactive online documentary that includes short videos of activists and planners, archival and recent photographs, and neighbourhood analyses. All information is freely navigable through the web platform.
The documentary was selected to participate in the 31st edition of SUNCINE (International Environmental Film Festival) and was shown exclusively through its online platform. Now it is possible to enjoy it through the YouTube platform.
