Dalena Tran Winner Of the Student Prize of the ESEE Conference
Our ICTA-UAB researcher Dalena Tran has been awarded one student prize for the best student contribution at the XIV International Conference of the European Society for Ecological Economics (ESEE 2022), held 14-17 June 2022 in Pisa (Italy) under the theme "Will Achiles catch up with the Tortoise?".
PhD candidate at ICTA-UAB Dalena Tran got one of the students prizes for her outstanding work on WED (women environmental defenders).
The jury had previously selected 6 finalist papers to be presented by the students at the conference in the best student prize session. After the presentations the jury selected the three winning papers, which were announced in the ESEE general meeting, and awarded in the final ceremony.
At the conference in Pisa, Dalena Tran gave a remarkable paper on "Women murdered at the frontlines of environmental justice conflicts". Through comparative political ecology, this research analyses cases from the Environmental Justice Atlas (EJAtlas) of ICTA-UAB in which one or more women were assassinated while fighting a diverse array of extractive or polluting projects.

Congrats Dalena!
