A group of Brazilian children visited ICTA-UAB to take part in the first activity of the Science for Brazilians programme organised by the Consulate of Brazil in Barcelona with the aim of fostering the interest of children and young people in science and technology.

The initiative, promoted within the framework of the Innovation Diplomacy Programme of the Brazilian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, began on Friday 21 July with a visit to the ICTA-UAB laboratories, located at our headquarters on the UAB campus.

A group of Brazilian children, aged between 6 and 12, had the opportunity to learn about the daily lives of Brazilian researchers at ICTA-UAB, visit the laboratories, observe coastal archaeological materials, and gain an understanding of the importance of preserving the oceans through sustainable practices. The goal is to promote the acquisition of diversified Portuguese vocabulary related to these topics among children in a fun and engaging manner, while also bringing Brazilian scientists closer to the local community.

During their visit, the children had the chance to meet ICTA-UAB researchers Andre Carlo Colonese, Dannieli Herbst, Thiago Fossile, and Leopoldo Gerhardinger. This initiative is being promoted by the technological and commercial promotion sector of the Consulate General of Brazil in Barcelona, in collaboration with ICTA-UAB and the Instituto Guimarães Rosa Barcelona.
