In this lecture I will compare two narratives for imagining alternative futures: Vivir Sabroso and Degrowth. The former articulates Afro- Latin American aspirations and notions of welfare, while the latter has been developed principally in Europe. Are these narratives compatible with regards knowledge generation, policy design and political mobilization ? To what extent the class interests and social values that they represent are complementary for the construction of a common policy agenda? What are the points of convergence and divergence between them? These are some of the questions that will be discussed.
