This seminar will present the ongoing project "Mirrors of the Anthropocene" and its site-specific collective research methodology that was implemented during the “Río Tinto Field School” (6-13 October 2022). Inspired by concepts and pedagogies from the Environmental Humanities, an interdisciplinary team of researchers, artists and activists traveled on foot, by bicycle and kayak the 102 km of this acidic river situated in the province of Huelva (Andalusia).

Through the journey, different socio-environmental problems and peculiarities converging around the Río Tinto as a “sacrifice zone” were observed and analyzed collaboratively, together with local actors. In this seminar, we will present the experience, as well as the collaborative methodologies implemented, focusing specially on collective cartography, landscape biographies and the act of walking to co-create situated knowledge.
