1st International Life Cycle Assessment Symposium
"Towards Circular Water and Nutrient Management for Food Production"
- Date: From June 4 to 6, 2025
- Venue: Sala Montseny (Z/022 - Z/023) ICTA-UAB
This international event will bring together researchers, academics, and professionals to discuss the role of Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in evaluating innovative strategies for sustainable food production.
The symposium takes place in a context of environmental crisis and increasing scarcity of essential natural resources such as water, mineral fertilizers, and soil, particularly in highly urbanized areas. Applying circularity principles to food production presents an opportunity to optimize resource use but also raises new challenges in terms of environmental impact, soil health, and human well-being.
Discussions at the symposium will cover topics such as water reuse in agriculture, nutrient recovery, the impact of emerging contaminants, urban agriculture, and resource flow analysis in circular food systems.
The call for abstracts is now open, with a submission deadline of March 15, 2025. Abstracts must not exceed 250 words and should align with the symposium's topics.
Due to the event’s limited capacity (maximum of 50 participants), abstract submission does not guarantee participation. Authors will receive an acceptance or rejection notification by March 30, 2025. Accepted abstracts will be published in a digital abstract book.
