Call for Workshop Proposals - 2024

We invite you to submit proposals for one- or two-day workshops aimed at transferring scientific knowledge and/or co-creating knowledge in the context of ICTA-UAB’s strategic research program and to contribute to at least one of its 5 societal challenges (Oceans, Land, Cities, Consumption & Production, Policy).

MdM Call for Workshop Proposals

APPLICATION : EXTENDED until 15th March 2024.

We encourage proposals for highly interactive and collaborative workshops, involving and/or targeting non-scientific actors (e.g., civil society organisations, policy makers, public administration, companies, etc.), which result in specific outputs (e.g., policy briefs, research articles, consultancy reports, videos, etc.).

Evaluators will prioritise proposals that have a scientific co-creation purpose or aim to discuss and resolve specific research challenges identified by citizens from any sector of the society. In this regard, we encourage the development of events that tackle a sustainability challenge (e.g., a hackathon).

The proposed workshop must be developed between April and September 2024.

Please, prepare your workshop proposal according to the attached template (maximum 4 pages, PDF format) and send it to pr.mdm.icta@uab.cat .

SELECTION

Members of the María de Maeztu Steering Committee will evaluate proposals according to the following criteria:

  1. Contribution to the Societal Challenges of the strategic programme
  2. Expertise and experience of the workshop organizers,
  3. Workshop’s potential for attracting participants and generating outputs of high scientific or societal impact.

Successful applicants will be notified by the end of March 2024.

Knowledge co-creation or challenge-focused workshops will be prioritized over scientific dissemination events, and dissemination to non-scientific audiences prioritized over purely scientific workshops. Evaluators will seek to ensure a balance of funded contributions across the 5 societal challenges, and they will also prioritize workshops that are likely to be “cost-effective” (for example, based on innovative formats and promise specific outputs at a reasonable cost).
