The BE-SAFE project of the EU is proud to present its contributions to the World Health Safety Day. First, through collaboration with other projects related to the EU call "Improving the Quality of the Health Care and Safety", BE-SAFE will join the inaugural web seminar "The Participation of patients in the Quality and Safety Research", on September 26th, 2023. This online seminar will show the benefits of involving patients in the research on patient safety, addressing the methodological challenges and will propose recommendations on improving participation of patients through different stages.
Furthermore, BE-SAFE launched a successful training programme for the members of the Patient Advisory Committee (PAC). This initiative has the objective of empowering patients and improving their abilities and knowledge to ensure their participation in research. It consists in five modules about sleeping disorders and the use of sleeping pills in elder people, among others, based on group discussinos and patient testimonials. These stories are vital to understand the needs and experiences of patients with sleeping disorders, needs and experiences that belong to health patient strategies. The programme sides with a patient-centered focus. The themes covered up by the programmes include sleeping disorders, problems with sleeping pills, patient safety, participation of patients in research, and research metodologies. The results of the evaluation revealed a high satisfaction rate, with a 90% of the participants willing to improve their knowledge and get more habilities.
The BE-SAFE project encourages the health care associations, patients and general public to join the fist web seminar "Patient participation in Patient Safety Research" on September 26, 2023 through the Zoom platform (16:00h CET). Together, we will promote a more safe and patient-centered health environment, specially on cutting down the prescription of sleeping pills in elder people, improving the health care practices and the well-being.
