Students of the Faculty of Tourism are part of an Erasmus+ programme of Sustainable Entrepreneurship in Austria

Four students from the Faculty of Tourism have participated in a hybrid training program in sustainable entrepreneurship that has been carried out during a week in Klagenfurt (Austria). The stay has been possible thanks to the joint collaboration between the Department of Tourism and Hotel Management and the Blended Intensive Program Erasmus+ on Sustainable Entrepreneurship.

All Erasmus+ Sustainable Entrepreneurship participants in Austria

Four students from the Bachelor's Degrees in Tourism, Tourism in English and Hotel Management at our university have been from 16 to 22 October in the city of Klagenfurt, in Austria, where they had the opportunity to participate in a hybrid training programmeme in Sustainable Enterpreneurship over a week.

Specifically, the participating students were Alex Mannsdorfer, from the Degree in Tourism in English, Tatiana Montenegro and Jennifer Accensi, from the Degree in Tourism and Olga Jia Fernández, from the Degree in Hotel Management. All four were able to enjoy a unique and enriching experience, in addition to doing so together with 38 other students from seven European universities, including Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, University of Ljubljana, Università degli Studi di Udine and the University of Maribor, among others.

Accompanied by Professor Anna Zinenko, co-organizer of the programme, the students immersed themselves in a multicultural and challenging environment, where creativity and innovation were the key.

Impressions of the students

Alex Mannsdorfer highlighted the cultural diversity of the programme: "What I liked most is the interculturality of each of the members. Learning from multifaceted people and colluding with cultural differences has been fascinating." Alex also highlighted the relevance of the programme for his professional future, pointing out the importance of practical cases and intensive workshops that provide the necessary tools for a future in sustainable entrepreneurship.

On the other hand, student Tatiana Montenegro, one of the winners of the pitch competition, highlighted the coaching sessions that encouraged students to be creative and to propose ideas that contribute to change. "Working in an intercultural team was enriching; I met people from other countries and I was able to see how I was involved in a diverse team," Tatiana highlighted. His team, Green b's, won the pitch competition thanks to the creation of VIRIDI, a virtual academy for SMEs, contributing to the Sustainable Development Goal '12: Responsible Production and Consumption.

Organization of the programme

This programme is co-organized by the teacher of the FUAB Training School Anna Zinenko and the professor Eithne Kneppitsch of the Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, as part of the Erasmus+ initiative.

In the words of Professor Anna Zinenko: "The 2023 Sustainable Entrepreneurship BIP is more than an Erasmus+ programme; it is a testimony to the power of collaborative learning and synergy between academia and industry. Eithne and I are committed to nurturing the next generation of leaders ready to face global challenges with sustainable solutions.
