Training activity for future Physical Education Teachers at the University of Seville
IRE-UAB researchers, Xènia Rios and Marta Borrueco, along with researcher Gonzalo Flores, have implemented a training programme on bullying for students in the degree program in Primary Education at the University of Seville as part of the project Bullying in Physical Education. Impact of a training proposal aimed at future Primary Education Physical Education teachers (PPC2024_4).

Bullying in the field of physical education is a phenomenon with significant repercussions on the mental health and quality of life of those affected. Despite the fundamental role of teachers in preventing and managing this issue, research shows gaps in their specific training.
This project aims to analyze the impact of a training programme, designed within the framework of the project and aimed at future primary education physical education teachers, with the goal of providing them with effective knowledge and strategies for detecting and intervening in bullying situations within this educational context.
More than 80 students from the degree program in Primary Education at the University of Seville participated in this intervention from February 5 to 7, 2025. The training programme includes theoretical content on bullying as well as strategies and resources related to prevention, detection, and intervention in a possible case.
This project is funded through the 2024 UAB Precompetitive Projects call (Emerging Leadership). The principal investigator of the project is Xènia Ríos (IRE-UAB). The research team includes: Carles Ventura (INEFC Barcelona), Maria Prat (IRE-UAB), Gonzalo Flores (University of Seville), and Marta Borrueco (IRE-UAB).
The research is based on work initiated in 2019 with the report on the presence of bullying in youth football in Catalonia commissioned by the Barça Foundation, the principal investigator's doctoral thesis, and the team's participation in the development of the Bullying and Sport Research Network, funded by the CSD (35/UPB/21, 08/UPB/22, 07/UPB/23).
