Complementary insurance (studies and placements in Spain)
The university offers complementary insurance cover for accidents and travel assistance, addressed to all students enrolled at the UAB. The complementary insurance policy can be taken out when enrolling. It will cover you for the academic year in which it is taken out.
Coverage:
The period of insurance cover is the academic year under way when the insurance is taken out. (See the Zurich certificate). The cover is worldwide in scope, 24 hours a day, for both study- and non-study-related activities, including holidays, both on and off campus.
A) Covers and sums insured in the event of accidents:
Death (€28,000)
Complete permanent invalidity (€46,000)
Medical costs at partner centres (unlimited)
Medical costs at other centres (up to €6,000)
B) Travel insurance covers:
For journeys outside Spain, including illness and accidents:
Medical costs for illness or accident: €6,000
Medical transport to place of habitual residence (included)
Travel expenses for a relative in the event of hospitalisation (included)
Subsistence expenses for bedside visit: €50 per day, max. 3 days
Repatriation in the event of death (unlimited)
Accompanying mortal remains (included)
Subsistence expenses for person accompanying the remains: €50 per day, max. 3 days
Costs of sending the deceased's belongings: €600

The accident statement must be signed by the insured person and also signed and stamped by the Gestió Acadèmica (Academic Management) of his/her faculty or by the Ómnibus company.

Complementary mobility insurance (studies and placements abroad)
If you are thinking of joining an exchange programme this academic year, or doing a placement abroad lasting over three months, you need to take out complementary mobility insurance. This is travel insurance that covers medical expenses for illness or accident. It will cover you for the academic year in which it is taken out. (See the Zurich certificate).
The covers are the same as those of the mobility insurance.
The accident statement must be signed by the insured person and also signed and stamped by the Gestió Acadèmica (Academic Management) of his/her faculty or by the Ómnibus company.
Fee: €8.06
Extension of the term period up to 31 December
If you are enrolled on your final year and you have a placement or other stay outside the university that stretches beyond the end of the academic year, you should take out an extension to your insurance by modifying your last enrolment. The extension only remains in force up to 31 December of that year.
