Faculty of Law
The master's degree in Social and Labour Rights offers specialised training in the field of labour law and social security.
The contents of the master's degree enable you to receive adequate and updated training in all professional fields of labour relations, as well as to develop a quality research career which can be further developed through PhD programmes.
Labour and social protection laws, as a discipline, requires qualified research personnel with abilities in perfecting regulations, formulating interpretation proposals and adapting them in coordination with social and labour laws at supra-state and international level. These objectives are possible thanks to a rigorous approach from a theoretical and practical perspective of the Spanish legal system, with the aim of expanding it to include international students.
Training in the professionally oriented profile is completed with external work placements in law firms, consultancy firms and human resource departments, as well as in other professional collaborating entities.
Career options
The master's degree in Social and Labour Rights enhances the career options for those interested in working in the fields of labour assessment and social security (social workers, lawyers, other professionals) or in the management of human resources and in public administration. At the same time, it is the perfect solution for those professionals seeking to update their knowledge in a field in which laws affecting labour and social security undergo frequent and profound changes. Those interested in a career in research will find that the master's degree has a profile especially designed for them.
Work placements
The master's degree in Social and Labour Rights offers an optional work placement programme addressed to students interested in taking the professional-oriented specialisation. It includes work placement agreements with professional law firms such as the Antràs Law Firm, the Col·lectiu Ronda Law Firm, the UGT and CCOO trade unions' central law offices and business law management entities such as Agespro. Work placements are also offered in law and employment management departments of private enterprises and organisations such as Alcampo, Manpower, the Grífols Group, Hospital de Mollet, etc. The UAB also has a work placement agreement with the work inspection department of Catalonia (Inspecció de Treball de Catalunya) and with the Department of Justice of the Government of Catalonia, which allows our students to carry out work placements at the Social Court of Barcelona.
