Do you want to learn about the latest in plant research? In this master’s degree you will discover the tools in molecular biology, bioinformatics and genetics that are helping to make huge improvements in crop plants with the aim of producing more sustainably and healthier food in a context of global change, and in the biotechnological production of drugs and other active compounds with technological applications in the bio-health and agri-food sectors.
The master’s degree includes a carefully balanced number of university lecturers and researchers thanks to a joint organisation by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB), the Universiy of Barcelona (UB) and the Centre for Research in Agricultural Genomics (IRTA-CSIC-CRAG).
The master’s degree is offered 100% in English and includes students from across the globe.

Research opportunities
A comprehensive knowledge of the functioning of plants is fundamental for scientific and technological developments
In recent years, improvements in the research tools used in molecular biology, bioinformatics and genetics have given rise to formidable advances in plant research. Rapid progress is being made in crop breeding improvement with the aim of achieving more sustainable and healthier food production systems, as well as in the biotechnological production of drugs and other active compounds with technological applications in the fields of bio-health, farming, renewable energy and the materials industry. Identifying and conserving the genetic diversity of plants are basic steps towards assuring the future sustainable development of all these applications, which are creating demand for specialised research and development personnel. The master's degree is organised jointly by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, the Universitat de Barcelona and the Center for Research in Agricultural Genomics. Lectures are held entirely in English.
