Master description
The Master’s degree in Social and Cultural Anthropology (CREOLE) is structured in four semesters (two years) with a total of 120 credits. The programme consists of 6 modules worth 15 credits each and one module worth 30 credits corresponding to the Master’s degree dissertation. The syllabus design is naturally the same for all members of the consortium. The modules form the central units of the programme and the basic units for assessment units. The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona has produced a document which defines the module as the basic unit for training, registration and assessment for all Master’s degrees.
Each module is composed of a series of blocks or classes (according to the specialisation of each centre participating in the offer of the Master’s degree) and the programme is designed to allow students to obtain 30 ECTS credits per semester.
Therefore, although the structure of modules is the same in all the universities, each one offers its own specific content within the general description of the modules according to its specialist area. This broad offer of specific content is one of the advantages of this Master’s degree.
Students must obligatorily spend one or two semesters in an institution from the consortium that is not their home institution.
