Ideal student profile

This programme aims to train advanced students to carry out research and analysis in the field of business economics. The programme therefore sets out a student profile that is considered suitable for this purpose. Applicants must have qualities based on three aspects: abilities, knowledge and interests. These are detailed further, below:

Recommended Abilities

  • The ability to analyse phenomena in an abstract way.
  • The ability to solve and draw conclusions from quantitative problems.
  • The ability to review, critique and synthesise analyses, essays and articles on economic phenomena.
  • The ability to distinguish, relate and order concepts.
  • The ability to organize work time, obtain learning results and communicate orally or in writing.
  • The ability to collaborate in English-language multidisciplinary and multicultural teams with short-term goals.
  • The ability to adapt to new situations and new ways of working and studying.

Recommended Prior Knowledge

  • General understanding of business organisation and management.
  • Calculation and optimisation.
  • Statistics and notions of econometrics.
  • Level B2.1 in English (as established by the Council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages).

Interests

  • An interest in developing an analysis of companies from a conceptual and formal point of view in order to improve understanding.
  • An interest in understanding and improving the management of organisations, taking into account the various concerns that may be at stake.
  • An interest in understanding measures implemented by regulators to order markets, to promote certain business practices or to restrict others.
  • An interest in knowing and understanding interrelationships between and among financial phenomena, business decisions, and the organisation and structure of markets.
