Basic skills

• Students must have and understand knowledge of an area of study built on the basis of general secondary education, and while it relies on some advanced textbooks it also includes some aspects coming from the forefront of its field of study.
• Students must be capable of applying their knowledge to their work or vocation in a professional way and they should have building arguments and problem resolution skills within their area of study.
• Students must be capable of collecting and interpreting relevant data (usually within their area of study) in order to make statements that reflect social, scientific or ethical relevant issues.
• Students must be capable of communicating information, ideas, problems and solutions to both specialised and non-specialised audiences.
• Students must develop the necessary learning skills in order to undertake further training with a high degree of autonomy.

Specific skills

• Mastering the necessary theoretical knowledge in order to pose geographical problems in an integrated way and combining a generalist approach with a specialised analysis.
• Acting and intervening in the territory and its management, displaying the practical and experimental nature of geographical formations.
• Identifying the spatial relationships on different territorial levels through the relationships between nature and society through time dimension.
• Mastering the different forms of management and acquisition of geographic information as interpretation tools of territory, and maps and Earth observation imagery in particular.
• Summarising and communicating geographical problems to the media.
• Analysing and interpreting landscapes.
• Analysing and interpreting environmental problems.
• Analysing and interpreting demographic problems.
• Analysing and interpreting urban problems.
• Applying fieldwork methods and techniques in order to acquire a direct knowledge of the territory.
• Analysing and explaining today's world events from a geographical point of view.
• Developing analysis, summary and communication strategies in order to communicate Geography in educational settings.
• Developing the specific abilities related to the knowledge of the working techniques, specially the ones related to the collection, analysis, treatment and cartographic expression of geographical information, as well as the techniques referring to the fieldwork.
