The bachelor's degree in International Relations is designed for those interested in understanding the international world and taking part in it, in all of its different manifestations, whether political, diplomatic, socioeconomic, environmental or security, all closely interrelated in such a globalised world.
The degree is offered in a combination of English (50% of all credits), Catalan and Spanish, and provides an analytical, empirical and practical training for students as well as a wide range of possibilities to participate in international mobility and work placements, as do the rest of degrees from the Faculty of Political Science and Sociology.
This is the only bachelor's degree in International Relations offered by a public university in Catalonia, and it is offered in the only Faculty of Political Science and Sociology to exist in Catalonia. You will benefit from the countless years of experience of faculty members and from the most important group of lecturers and researchers specialising in international relations to be found in Catalonia and one of the most important in all of Spain.
It is recommended that you have a B2 level in English upon the start of your degree or that you acquire it shortly after.
Career options
Once you have completed your degree you will have many professional options available to you, given the academic and professional orientation of this degree, as well as the growing interest and demand in both the public and private sphere to hire people with training in international subjects. You will be prepared to work professionally in a variety of national and international institutions and organisations, as well as private firms and in non governmental and solidarity support organisations. You will also be equipped with the knowledge needed to pursue a career in teaching or diplomacy.
As an example, graduates from the Specialisation in International Relations belonging to the Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and Public Administration, the Master's Degree in International Relations, Security and Development, and the PhD in Politics, Policies and International Relations, all of which have been offered for years at the faculty before creating this new programme, now work in the European Parliament, the European Commission, at the Office of foreign Affairs of the Government of Catalonia, the United Nations, and other International organisations.
