Student Profile

The student profile of this bachelor's degree programme meets the new demands of the sector and the social, technological and ethical challenges posed by journalistic practice in the 21st century. Students will be prepared to practise the profession in newsrooms for print, radio, television, digital media and multimedia platforms, as well as in news agencies, institutional and political communications offices, fact-checking companies, communications departments, and new media start-ups.

Students will develop skills for rigorous and responsible journalistic practice:

  • Ability to investigate and contextualise complex social phenomena.
  • Production of content adapted for multiple languages ​​and platforms.
  • Fact-checking, management of information sources, audience analysis, collaborative production, and ethical information management.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in Catalan and Spanish, employing inclusive language that incorporates a gender perspective and takes into account diversity.
  • Critical thinking, analysis of disinformation, and assessment of the social impact of journalism.
  • Skills in the use of emerging technologies, analysis of metrics, design of digital strategies, and transmedia storytelling.
  • Ability to adapt to transformations in the media landscape and the labour market.
  • A commitment to ethics and social justice, combined with high technical and creative capability to report in a truthful, inclusive, and innovative manner.

Additional training

Booster courses in Catalan oral and written skills for new students, offered in the second semester (20 hours).
