Journalist, writer, and playwright from Valencia, a victim of censorship during the post-war period, who fought to maintain his literary and committed voice in a context of political and cultural repression, and who now forms part of the collection at the Humanities Library.

In mid-November of this year, two students on placement from the Catalan Philology degree at UAB, Anna Botifoll and Carla Font, began cataloguing the documents of Ricardo Orozco.

The collection, held at the Humanities Library since 2021, represents only a small part of Orozco's personal collection, with the majority of his papers stored at the Biblioteca Nacional de España (BNE). The files worked on so far primarily consist of correspondence with members of the Fondo de Cultura Económica (1978-1982), along with several issues of El Sobre Literario, a literary, artistic, and cultural magazine founded by Orozco in Valencia in 1950. The collection also includes press articles, drafts of works—some previously unpublished—photographs, and other documents related to Orozco.

As of today, the cataloguing of the documents has been completed. However, the collection is still in the processing stage, meaning it is not yet available for consultation on the Humanities Library’s personal collections page. Other collections, such as that of José Agustín Goytisolo, are accessible in the meantime.
