Jordi Castellanos Collection
Jordi Castellanos i Vila (1946–2012) was an essayist, literary critic, and historian of literature. A professor at the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona since 1988, he specialised in Catalan literature of the 19th and 20th centuries, notably for his studies on Modernisme and Noucentisme.
He was a founding member and editor of the journal Els Marges, which focuses on the Catalan language and literature, and directed the Group for the Study of Contemporary Catalan Literature. He served as an editorial consultant, collaborated with the history magazine Recerques, and was the curator of several notable exhibitions. Additionally, he created and directed the bibliographic database on Catalan language and literature, Traces.
A member of the Societat Verdaguer, the International Association of Catalan Language and Literature, and a full member of the Historical-Archaeological Section of the Institut d'Estudis Catalans.
The collection, donated by his heirs to the UAB, is currently being catalogued thanks to the collaboration between the Humanities Library and the Department of Catalan Philology.
Collection Description: The collection, which is in the process of being described, includes part of his personal and professional documentation. It primarily comprises manuscripts and typescripts of his own works, correspondence, professional and personal documentation, press clippings, a library, a newspaper archive, and more.
