Francisco Rico Philology Collection

Francisco Rico (1942-2024) was a professor in the Department of Spanish Philology at UAB and a member of the Royal Spanish Academy, the Accademia Nazionale dei Lincei, and the British Academy. He devoted much of his research career to Petrarch and Italian Humanism, the Spanish Golden Age, and picaresque novels, with a particular focus on Cervantes.

His bibliographic collection is almost exhaustive on subjects such as the history of early printing, picaresque novels, medieval and Golden Age Spanish literature, Humanism, Renaissance literature, Latin literature, the history of the Middle Ages, and other contemporary European literatures. It also includes works of modern European literature from the 18th century to the present, often in their original languages, as well as contemporary Spanish literature, especially from the post-war period.
