The UAB Libraries offer a personalised service for users with disabilities or specific educational needs, aimed at facilitating access to and use of library resources.
To access this service, users must be registered with PIUNE or provide an official certificate confirming a disability degree of 33% or more. Alternatively, a medical report or documentation of educational needs can be submitted. For any questions, please contact PIUNE at Plaça Cívica, next to the Òptica Universitària.
If the user is unable to locate the document themselves, library staff will conduct the search and provide the documents during the UAB Libraries' opening hours.
Enquiries can be made in person or online through the Pregunt@ service. A specialist librarian will assist you in finding the information you need.
The loan period will be extended to twice in relation to the established loan rules.
Users with severe motor disabilities, mobility problems and long hospital stays will be allowed to make loans on the phone or via web, and another person, duly authorised, may collect the items without having to be registered in PIUNE, although it is advisable to contact the service if necessary to respond to other needs arising from personal or health.
The library offers courses tailored to users' needs and personal circumstances, as long as these are justified by the type and extent of their disability. The library can also arrange personalised guided tours to help users become familiar with its services and collections.
Visually impaired users who require an item marked as 'library use only' may borrow it for scanning, subject to prior authorisation from the Director of the library that holds the item, and only if there is no adapted room available. Please contact PIUNE for details on the procedure to follow.
The loan period for an item marked as 'available' may be extended if the user requires a transcription, which will be carried out by an external institution. This extension is subject to the availability of additional copies.
